King’s students are raising money to buy Christmas presents for refugee children
Give a little this Christmas
A group of King's students, from KCL STAR (Student Action for Refugees), are trying to raise £400 in donations through a JustGiving page to buy presents for a group of children from refugee backgrounds.
Anya Jhoti, a 2nd year student and KCL STAR President said exclusively to The Tab King's: "We are fundraising to buy Christmas presents for the children we volunteer for, at LovetoLearn homework club in Battersea. It is an opportunity for King's students to help make the kids have an extra special Christmas."
"It will also help develop the relationship between volunteers and children they work with. We have had a strong relationship with the charity and want to expand to make this a long term initiative for King's students to be part of."
They have also put up donation boxes at Strand, Waterloo and Guy's student union desks for students to leave presents and toys for the children if they don't want to donate money directly.
The children receiving the donations are part of a LovetoLearn homework club, for which KCL STAR provides around 35 volunteers every week to help one on one with a child on homework and reading.
