In photos: All the best outfits from this year’s Notting Hill Carnival

The costumes were wilder than the floats

Notting Hill Carnival never disappoints with its flamboyant costumes that celebrate Caribbean culture, as the roads become filled with steel drums, heavy bass and masquerade dancers. Carnival spirit took hold of the masses far and wide across London this bank holiday weekend: there were sequins, tassels, streamers and face paint as far as the eye could see. We took to the streets to bring you the best of what the locals had to offer in all their feathery, sequinned glory.

The street festival undoubtedly fused Caribbean culture with London’s very own styles, creating a sort of urban-meets-garish vibe. One recurring trend that particularly caught our eye was the headdress, a true icon of the carnival itself.
