BREAKING NEWS – Climate change graffiti sprayed across Strand campus
Direct appeals for action gets noticed
Teuta HoxhaThis afternoon, King’s Climate Change Emergency divestment campaigners spray painted the entrance hall at Strand (otherwise known as The Great Hall) to show their disappointment at the university’s ongoing investment in oil and gas.

A KCCE spokesperson said:
“Years of campaigning by conventional means have led to some small gains including a decision to divest from some tar sand and coal companies. But this is nowhere near what is needed in order to adequately respond the global climate change crisis.”
This demonstration was organised two weeks after PHD student Roger Hallam sprayed the front of the Strand building with the message ‘Out of time! Divest from oil and gas now!’
Last semester, campaigners sprayed 1,000 chalk dots on walls as a symbolic gesture of “connecting the dots” on climate change.
Further action has been organised for the 9th of February.
