Universities are starting to give out free tablets

While King’s decide to raise fees. Typical.

It’s not a myth – universities do give out free tablets, and it’s the expensive kind.

First year student Saffah who studies at University of East London said she knew that the university were giving out free tablets as they mentioned it on their website. All undergraduates, including foundation year students, receive a free Samsung Galaxy tablet to keep.

It comes equipped with an app called Kortext and has all your books on there. It also comes with a special pen for annotations.

University of Westminster student Zara Khan received an iPad at the start of her second year. Although she has to hand it in at the end of her Computer Science degree, Zara was happy to get a freebie. She said: “We knew we would get an iPad, the second and third years told the first years and anyways we were sent an email telling us to come and collect our iPads.

“The department invested in a major mobile learning project to provide everyone in the Science and Technology department to have one.”

Take note King’s – we want them, and we want them now.
