King’s comes 36th in the world university rankings

Smashed it

King’s has been ranked 36th best university in the world according to The Higher Times Education.

We might have fallen a mighty nine places since last years rankings but we remain seventh best in the country.

The only other UK universities to come ahead of us are usual suspects Oxford (1st), Cambridge (4th), Imperial (8th), UCL (15th), LSE (25th) and Edinburgh (27th).

Oxford was the only university that achieved a higher place than the previous year.

A King’s College London spokesperson said: “We are disappointed by our drop in the THE World University Rankings for 2017 but pleased that our five-year trajectory has been very positive, with an overall increase of 21 places since 2013.

“King’s College London is now ranked 36th in the world and sits comfortably within the top ten universities in the UK (7th).

“The international league tables are only one source of information and take different approaches when compiling data.”

First year Biomed student, Nikita Komarov, commented: “As a fresher, it’s honestly not a big deal, 36th in the world isn’t at all bad.

“It doesn’t mean that King’s has become any worse, it just means that we haven’t improved as much in comparison to other universities, which, again isn’t bad.

“We should just be glad that other establishments have finally caught up to King’s standards.”
