King’s is the 7th best university in the UK

Now we’re one of the top thirty universities in THE WORLD

KCL have been revealed as the seventh best university in the UK – and one of the top 30 unis in the world.

The new tables have been released as part of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for 2015/16.

Reputation increased further after news from the Times

The announcement for this academic year marks the most comprehensive set of rankings since being founded in 1971, expanding the rankings to 800 institutions from 70 countries, adding 29 from last year.

The Times Higher Education Rankings also is now the first world rankings to examine all core missions for a global modern university, with the help of 13 performance indicators, including PHD’s awarded, number of international students, and the staff to student ratio.

Second year English student Carys Laws wasn’t surprised with such an impressive result.

“I can’t say it’s a huge shock. I always knew when I came here that King’s had an ever growing reputation, and it’s still getting better, in terms of academia and sports. It’s justified my decision to come here, so for that I’m very happy. For the freshers, they must be over the moon, as something like this will boost their confidence in choosing the right uni for them.”

In terms of representing the UK, KCL’s achievements have made a huge contribution, promoting their impressive standing even further. Of 800 institutions, 78 are from the UK, whilst 34 of them make up the top 200.

In comparison to neighbouring London universities, the statistics also prove easy reading for King’s students. KCL, joined only by UCL, LSE and Imperial, are the only 4 campuses of the capital to make it in the top 30.

One man to express his delight with the results was our very own Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, who couldn’t help but talk of London’s places of academic excellence with pride.

“I’m incredibly proud that four of London’s universities are in the top thirty worldwide according to this survey. The capital continues to be the global leader in education, innovating and inspiring top talent from both across the country and overseas.”

Globally, KCL can also boast bragging rights over a number of high profile institutions across the water, including the likes of New York and Washington from the States, Melbourne down under, and even stretching across to Japan with Tokyo.
