Protesters barricade themselves inside the College Council Room

They’re campaigning against something called ‘neoliberalism’

A group of smiley KCL EcoSoc students have locked themselves inside the College Council Room at the Strand Campus.

Occupy KCL campaigners want a reform on the education system, and will be issuing their specific demands to King’s soon.

Their Facebook event says they’ll be protesting against what they call the “increasingly neo-liberal, undemocratic and restrictive conditions of our education system”.

Now they are urging other students to join their peaceful protest, asking them to “make King’s a truly transparent, accessible and compassionate place.”

This movement follows many similar campaigns around the country, notably from neighbouring university LSE who demanded “free education and zero tolerance of oppression on campus.”

The LSE movement comprised around 400 students occupying their campus.

At the moment we do not know how many students are taking part in Occupy KCL.
