Throw off your chains! King’s to vote on Working Class Officer
Have your say at tonight’s AGM
Three egalitarian students are trying to create a Working Class Officer position at the SU.
The motion will be debated at tonight’s AGM along with other popular student issues such as “lad culture” and campus food prices.
Meeting goers will also discuss setting up sexual consent workshops.
If passed, the new working class officer position would tackle extortionate accommodation fees and a “lack of hardship and bursary support for NHS funded students”.
Third year Neuroscience student Krupa Patel said: “The fact that they’re trying to introduce represent students in liberation group is awesome because these students should voice their opinions and have a community to comfort them in times of need.”
Kayleigh Nicholson, Biomed, first year, said: “I am glad that they are going to address the problem of LAD culture, at lectures, some of these ‘lads’ talk loudly at the back row, it is annoying, and distracts everyone from the lecture.”
John Dai, Law, first year, said: “I agree with all the motions proposed and hope that they go through”.
The Annual General Meeting is at 6.30pm today in the Harris Lecture Theatre, Hodgkin Building on Guy’s Campus.
