King’s named 7th best uni for research

Take that, Ed

KCL have bossed the research rankings for yet another year – being named as the seventh best uni for research in the country.

The new table puts us firmly in the top ten and provides yet another sign that the uni doesn’t need a re-brand.

KCL were the true champions of this year’s REF, climbing 15 places on grade point average (GPA) from joint 22nd in 2008 to seventh.

The College (yes, college) also managed to submit more people – 1,369, compared to 1,172 in 2008 – meaning that the uni’s ranking on research power has risen from 11th to 6th and its market share of total UK research power has increased from 2.37% to 2.85%.

In an age where some rankings opt to use research power over GPA, KCL’s performance proves that it’s international rep is booming.

That’s right – we’re a strong, beautiful university, and we don’t need no minimalist logo.
