Stylespiration at King’s! KCL’s biggest fashion influences

KCL students spill the beans on their favourite fashion icons

Living in London, you see a variety of fashion and style. Everyone has their own look. But who do King’s students take their style tips from?

Miles Alexander

Simplicity does not mean Miles is off the style radar

Miles takes inspiration from the timelessly British model David Gandy due to his clean cut and simple style which incorporates the use of one focal feature in his look to draw your attention. This can be done either through a bold colour or a heavy layered jacket without making the look too fussy or confusing.

Tara Gladstone

Tara works with just a splash of print

Tara gets everyday style inspiration from successful fashion blogger Andy Torres (stylescrapbook.com) who sharp and clean cut styles gives her ideas which can be converted from designer fashion labels into more affordable outfits found on the high-street.

Kennedy Burrows

Kennedy knows that accessorising is key in updating an outfit

Kennedy’s style icon is singer/ Made in Chelsea star Caggie Dunlop, whose daring dress sense always delivers quirky and cute outfits, with particularly great taste in accessories such as her choice in jewellery and above all her statement rings, she never seems to get it wrong.

Talia Ogunyemi

Talia’s girly grunge style

Talia takes inspiration from casual chic queen Alexa Chung, whose fashion creates a mix of laid back grunge with statement pieces of elegance. The use of opposites in her outfits is a real key style, for instance teaming a floral dress with a tough leather jacket or leather ankle boots. Talia loves Alexa’s awesome handbags of Chanel and Mulberry and hopes to one day bag some arm candy of her own!

Henrietta Borchgevink

Who doesn’t idolise the Delevingne?!

Henri’s fashion inspiration is Cara Delevingne, whose style is fun yet incredibly elegant. She likes how she combines toboy pieces like baseball caps and big trainers with tailored jackets and sexy sheer materials and pulls off both everyday comfortable looks and stunning glamour pieces at events, demonstrating her great versatility. Henri says Cara has added a new layer of coolness to the fashion scene, creating not only a new look and image for models, but becoming a symbol for London’s vibe and style.

Shannon Kendall

Shannon goes for the ‘less is more’ in outfit-building

Shannon loves Fearne Cotton’s casual style for day to day outfit ideas. She takes inspiration from Fearne’s fluffy jumpers, high-waisted shorts or jeans matched with long statement necklaces to dress it up a little, or copying Fearne’s beanie hats for a more dressed down and cosy look for when it’s cold outside! Shannon loves her effortlessly cool style because she always pulls off stylish looks which compliment her figure.

Alex Dickinson

Alex goes for androgynous meets femininity!

Alex’s takes her fashion inspiration from model and reality TV star Kendall Jenner, who always put great combinations together to create cool looks, for instance her use of biker boots with feminine skirts or boyfriend jeans are great inspiration for everyday wearable styles that are easy to find on the high-street and recreate for yourself!

Lauren Jeans

Lauren loves the chic and stylish Olivia

Olivia Palermo polished and put together look is Lauren’s inspiration for her everyday wardrobe, because even when Olivia is dressed casually she still manages to pull off a high fashion look that is both easy to create and chic. Lauren finds that being as skinny as she is, it is sometimes difficult to find the right outfits for her slim figure, however Olivia Palermo gives great fashion tips for her body type and creates trends to suit her perfectly.
