Why does everybody hate being at Hull?
We voted ourselves as one of the worst unis for student satisfaction
Hull has come in at 86th place in a student-led British university survey, which was voted by us. The rankings are based on analysis by Whatuni.com from comments and reviews from over 25,000 students.
Harper Adams, the agricultural college, has leaped into first place. We were left languishing in 86th place, trailing behind local rivals Lincoln, Leeds and York.

What do you mean we’re 86th?
The rankings were based on scores across 10 categories; accommodation, city life, clubs and societies, courses and lecturers, job prospects, student unions, facilities, support services. There’s also an overall rating.
Job prospects, student unions, support services and clubs and societies have all experienced a significant drop in ratings in the past year.
It’s not all bad news for Hull though. Overall student satisfaction has increased from 81 percent to 83 percent this year.
The survey was conducted across 125 universities, meaning that Hull is now the 39th worst for student experience.
This is the latest in a drop in various rankings for the university, in a list compiled by the Times Higher Education list, where we failed to make it into the top 200 universities in Europe.
In a turbulent year, the university has encountered national criticism following the booking of DJ Lee Watson for an Asylum night. There has also been growing unrest as operations at the Scarborough campus are being scaled down.
Sam Harrison, a second year Spanish and American Studies student told The Tab: “These rankings are just ridiculous because hull has a high level of post grads in employment.
“I think that the rankings are just snobbish. I know that all of my uni friends have had really great experiences at Hull which these rankings just don’t reflect”.
