Hull is not in the top 200 universities in Europe
At least we’re City of Culture 2017
Hull students should unite in outrage following the ultimate par by the Times Higher Education List (THE).
THE has compiled the 200 best ranked universities across Europe, and Hull failed to break the top 200 Universities in Europe for 2016. Apparently we’re shitter than Bangor and Swansea. Oh dear.
We came in the 400-500th bracket, placing us 50th in the UK, behind Brunel and City but beating Coventry, John Moores and Hallam.
Maybe it’s the strong competition though, as the United Kingdom has dominated the list. Nearly a quarter of the universities on the list are British institutions. At least we can be proud of that. Sort of.

The criteria is the same that is used to compile the World University Rankings. Teaching environment, International Outlook, research influence, citations and industry income all considered in the final rankings.
They should have considered factors like chip spice-ability, amount of white coloured telephone boxes and the proximity of a Heron Foods store, then Hull would definitely come out on top.
The usual suspects Oxford and Cambridge took the top spot, with Imperial College London taking the third spot.
They never had Philip Larkin as a librarian though – so who’s really winning?
To add insult to serious injury, local rivals Sheffield, Leeds and York managed to rank in the top 100. Whatever. They overlooked the most important University in Yorkshire.
Obvs we’re just to Hullywood for them.
