Hull is the worst place in the country for safe sex

And our favourite position is doggy style

Less than a third of us in Hull practice safe sex, according to a recent study.

The survey – carried out by UKMedix – places us bottom of the league, with only 32 per cent using protection in Yorkshire and the Humber.

A saucy 36 per cent voted doggy style as the position that gets us hot under the collar, making it our favourite.

But on the scale of “how kinky do you consider yourself to be?” – with 0 being completely traditional and 10 being extremely experimental – we rated ourselves an average six alongside London and the North East. Not quite Fifty Shades just yet.

The kinkiest region was the South East, giving themselves a nine out of 10.

The South West only rated themselves a three out of 10, landing them position as the least kinky region.

Northern Ireland said 79 per cent of them always use contraception, placing them at number one for safe sex.

But overall, it turns out we’re quite vanilla as a nation, with Britain’s favourite sex position being missionary. Bit of an anti-climax, eh?

With an even split between male and female respondents, the survey asked 2,157 British people to take part in the study, who were all aged 18 and over and had been sexually active for a minimum of 12 months.
