Grafton Street is the most dangerous road in Newland
2,233 crimes were committed in Hull last year
An overwhelming 225 crimes were committed on Grafton Street last academic year.
Over 2,000 crimes – ranging from muggings and burglaries to ASBOs and violent assaults – occurred in and around Newland from September 2013 to June 2014.
In May 2014, there were 39 crimes on Grafton alone, compared to just four crimes on De Grey Street for the year as a whole.
The second most dangerous is Beverley Road, home of Welly, with 117 crimes.
There were a spate of burglaries on Bev Road last semester, with one third year having her laptop nicked.

Don’t be fooled by this cutesy building, you’re most likely to be a victim of crime on Grafton

A rather sad looking Beverley Road
Popular student haunt Newland Avenue comes in third place, managing to rack up an impressive 86 crimes.
But this is the street which hosted the still unsolved mystery still angering local tree huggers and busy bodies, of who actually cut down that tree and why?
In fourth place is Auckland Avenue with 26 accounts of criminal activity, averaging 60 crimes less than Newland.
Cranbrook Avenue – a popular route to Asylum – only has an average of 2.1 crimes a month.

Who stole the tree?

De Grey Street has one of the lowest crime statistics
Roads with under 20 crimes are Beresford Avenue, Brooklyn Street, Falmout Street and Lambert Street.
And finally, the safest student street was De Grey Street, ranking a lowly four crimes, making it a prime location.
But the low crime rate comes at a cost of it being quite far away, giving you the choice of safety versus an extra five minutes in bed.
