There’s an anti-Isis march happening in the West End

There are police all over the shop

Students leaving the GUU just now were finding it difficult to get home due to a huge anti-Isis protest marching across University Avenue onto Kelvin Way.

The protest took about five minutes to bypass the Union, with multiple police escorts as well as riot vans present. Men, women and children were all involved in the peaceful protest which included both Arabic and English banners, posters and chants.

People campaigning for the cause walked alongside the protest and handed out leaflets explaining the reasons for the public show of contention.

Some of the signs read “Say no to Isis” and “Say no to terrorism”.

The protest comes just as many commuters are leaving the University, causing a backlog of traffic.
