Owning some Numark doesn’t make you a top DJ

Put down those ridiculously large headphones

You’ve arrived at Uni, you’ve been to a few sick nights, seen some mad DJ’s, and thought, yeah, I can make it to the top.

This isn’t Kevin & Perry Go Large.

100 quid for a Mixtrack Pro II on eBay, what a bargain.

Aye they’re fun to mess about with, but unless you’re releasing any mixes, playing any shows or on the line up for some festival, don’t take yourself too seriously.

You’re not the next Moodymann. Daphni isn’t going to be going b2b with you at Subby. Four Tet isn’t going to be asking for a rework any time soon.

It is understandable that someone may be wanting to gain a bit of experience, develop it as a hobby, or just enjoys it.

30 quid for two of these? sick value

It’s good fun, and you can’t deny that.

But, unless you envision yourself playing at any decent night in the next few years chill out a wee bit.

chill out man

Share the decks and keep the heid.

Or you won’t be my mate, and you won’t be my fellow DJ.
