The ‘killer clowns’ have come to Exeter

SOS

A Devon man has claimed he was confronted by a ‘killer clown’ late on Friday night in Plymouth. In a video which has over 1.3 million views on Facebook, the man says the clown was armed with a hammer and wouldn’t move when he tried to get past.

Plymouth has been privy to an outbreak of the craze, with reports of people dressed as clowns across the city – including one incident on a school bus. As first reported by the Exeter Express and Echo, children have reported being chased through the woods of Plymouth by clowns carrying knives, and being approached in the street. Others have said the clowns have been at their schools, prompting an emergency response.

But sadly we’re no longer safe in EX4 as the clowns have officially made their way to Exeter, prompting a flurry of fear on Twitter.

George Birkbeck of Plymouth shared his encounter with a clown to Facebook.

George said: “I was walking home from Tesco after getting myself a crate of beer when I was confronted by a clown. He stood in my way and wouldn’t let me pass and had what looked like a hammer in hand. I decided to film this in case it was my last moments on earth and even in death it would be a joke as I got killed by a clown.

“Seriously stay safe out there guys these things are scary and I don’t recommend that anyone else charges towards them if you see one. I had a rush of blood and got lucky that this one was more of a pussy than I am.”

Plymouth police have said they are taking the reports seriously, they are investigating and those responsible will be prosecuted if caught.

We’ll keep you updated with further clown news.
