Police appeal for information after tragic death of Mathematics graduate George Beresford

He left Exeter last year

George Beresford tragically died on February the 7th, after being hit by a car in the early hours of the morning.

He was knocked down by a BMW at 1:27, the driver of which is currently bailed, to return in June.

George, 21, had recently started a new job in London just two weeks prior to this horrific event.

He was a charitable man, who had volunteered at a Cancer Research shop in his native Purley. It was believed his relatives were abroad when the accident happened.

George was kept on life support for three days so his family could say goodbye.

He was a ‘brilliant’ young man

Neighbour Harsha Evangeli, 48, a teacher, told The Evening Standard: “He was only 21, it’s so sad. We’ve been neighbours for a long time and they’re just such a loving, close family. He was a lovely gentle guy. He was so sweet. It’s just tragic — I don’t think anyone can take it in.”

His mother Shaena posted a picture of her and her husband at George’s graduation with the caption: “He is an incredible son and always will be.”

Police are appealing for witnesses, if you have any information please contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Catford Traffic Garage on 020 8285 1574.
