Edinburgh Fives Legend Ali Reid is back

It was pretty surreal

Fresher Ali Reid has just got back from his trip to Edinburgh, putting up several inconvenient rail problems to get back in just under 30 hours.

We spoke to him as he got back.

What was the best university you stopped at?
It had to be Durham.  My long childhood friend Andrew Dumble greeted me with a John Smith and we bolted off, myself bolting slowly as ever.
It was great to get a mate involved in the famous Fives.
Best gift?
Hmmm I got a lot of quality stash and gifts from the lads. The Edinburgh boys made me feel at home as they greeted me with a bottle of Buckfast for the way back.
Not a drink I’d recommend to anyone. Loughborough gave me a 15 pack of Fosters – that definitely had to be up there.
I met some sound people on my travels and we saw them off – that was a great present.

He lost his Loughborough tie

What happened at the beginning?
I got kicked off at Bristol Temple Meads. I didn’t expect to need to railcard to be honest… I don’t have one. The ticket lad couldn’t find it in his self to let me stay on.
Petal was on the phone to him explaining the situation but to no avail. I thought it was all over at this point, but the Club managed to sort it out in the end.
How was the journey back?
The journey back was so, so decent. All the Clubs came with great support, stash and gifts, and I was well oiled for the whole 8 hours so, the journey didn’t feel long at all.
I got kidnapped and taken to a massive house party by the Bristol guys. It such a class night.

Watermelons are about six per cent sugar

When did you get back?
I Arrived in Exeter at around 10.00am and I was off to the airport at 12.00pm back to Edinburgh.
So it was good losing then?
Although I had my problems getting there it all worked out in the end.
It is something which we used to hear about and talk about in school, it’s pretty surreal that it happened to me.
