A local man is on trial accused of biting a girl’s finger down to the bone when she tried to break up a fight outside Mosaic.

Grace Percy, 18, was celebrating her birthday when she tried to stop two men scuffling in the smoking area on a Saturday night.

Ahmed Abdullayi, 30, stands accused of biting off more than he could chew, when he chomped on the 18-year-old’s finger so hard it broke the bone.

She was rushed to hospital where doctors had to remove her nail to give her 11 stitches.

On January 26th 2014, Grace started her Saturday night out with family at the Imperial, followed by champagne drinks at Mama Stones before heading out to Mosaic nightclub.

She was not involved in the fight, but when she tried to act as peacemaker Abdullayi grabbed her and bit it.

She said: “I did not try to intervene with the actual fight. I was just stood having a cigarette. When he bit me I could feel his teeth going through my finger.

“I did not want any trouble. I felt somebody bite me and I pulled my arm away. I was in a lot of pain and ran around with my arm in the air. I have had to have an operation on it and I’ve been to hospital seven times.”

A friend further explained: “Grace felt her hand pulled downwards and felt a sharp pain on her right index finger and a crack as the man’s teeth went through her nail. She felt pain and saw it was bleeding and started to run around in panic.”

There is CCTV footage which supposedly captures the fight happening.

Abdujsui, of Polsloe Road, strongly denies causing actual bodily harm and claims he “never bit anyone.”
