The lowdown on your VP Education candidates

Campaign week has officially started

Charlie Evans

Charlie

Studying Politics and Economics, Charlie loves nothing more than experiencing the club vibes in the King Billy, where he’s guaranteed to be surrounded by women over 48 years of age.

You may recognise Charlie from his electrifying cover of “Don’t Want To Miss A Thing” in Rameoke, as the Darts Society president, or as the irresponsible drinker of DebSoc.

Charlie, who describes himself as tall, dark and handsome feels his best attribute is being able to make a ham and cheese omelette in under 2 minutes.

So if you want all of these qualities in a candidate, as well as exciting things such things as a guaranteed reading week for all students and more study space on campus, vote for Charlie.

Bethan Jones

Bethan really is buzzing about running as a candidate. She hopes after being featured on The Tab the crowds will part for her, as unfortunately being related to Gethin Jones isn’t something she can boast about.

Bethan is involved in a lot of music around the university, such as “Sweet Nothings” which she describes as a group like “pitch perfect but even cooler”. She feels students may be able to relate to the drugged up lesbian she played in “Shotgun’s the Wild Party”.

She believes her best attributes is her honesty, her commitment and her determination to BEE the best (pun intended).

Vote for Bethan if you want all your lectures to be recorded and if you want to BEE given more free printing credits .

Shumi Kadir

Final year Shumi describes herself as loyal, honest and small. She is best known for being the president of fashion society and you may see Shumi letting her hair down at Friday Arena, her favourite night out.

She feels that the quality of education is the most important factor in a student’s decision to study at the University, and her policies are all based upon the variety of feedback she has heard from students.

Vote for Shumi if you want to save money and push for the library to fund more e-books for core modules and make sure that our tuition fees are utilised to their full extent.

Joe Levy

You may recognise Joe, an Archaeology and Anthropology student as a result of his work with the Green party, where he organised Natalie Bennett’s visit to the University and chaired the Q&A session.

Joe believes if he had to be an alcoholic drink he would choose cider, as it is a great drink for one to one conversations, which he believes is the best way to communicate with others.

His best attribute is kindness, which he promises is the core of his policies.

Vote for Joe if stopping the extensions of the uni day is something you feel strongly about.

George Flower

If you’re against the extension of the university working day, George is the one to vote for: he believes it will not only affect sleeping patterns, but he also feels it will have a negative effect on students extra curricular activities.

George feels his best attribute is unashamedly speaking up for things he cares about, no matter how ridiculous it may make him look.

In his spare time George leads a simple life, which consists of drinking white russians and being part of the hide and seek committee.

If flower power is something you’re into, George is your man.
