Yet another good music act is coming to the Lemmy and it’s all very confusing

Sigma are set to play their biggest venue yet.

After exploding onto the scene this year with two number one singles, Sigma is set to perform at the best venue in the UK on the 5th December- the Lemmy.

The uni has seriously upped its live music game this year.

In one term alone, we’ve witnessed Clean Bandit, Shift K3Y, Duke Dumont, Frank Turner and now Sigma.

Too cool for The Lemmy? I think not.

Though having been working as a duo since 2010, it was only this year that the pair really managed to  break into the UK music scene, scoring two number ones with ‘Nobody to Love’ and ‘Changing’, which was co-written with Ella Eyre and performed by Paloma Faith.

In order to gain experience for their highly-anticipated Lemmy performance, the group spent the summer travelling the UK festival scene, appearing at Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds and Bestival.

‘Nobody to Love’ was an instant summer success.

Aaron Horinbrook director of Hold It Down spoke to The Tab about the upcoming 18+ only event.

He said due to Sigma’s “high fee, we are still working on support options.

“The general ticket price is already £15 so we wouldn’t want it to be any higher than that.

“I always try to keep the price fair – but quality, high profile acts cost and that has to be reflected in the ticket price.”

Clearly the best venue in the UK

Hold It Down have no intentions of abandoning the uni any time soon, with illusive ideas already forming for 2015.

“Plans are in place and some acts are already confirmed,” Hornibrook said.

“But you’ll have to wait until all is revealed.”

Second year Philosopher Will O’Shea said, “Personally, I’m not someone who listens to Sigma, so it doesn’t concern me too much.

“However, it does show that the Lemmy is trying to get in a wider range of DJs for students to see which is good”.

First Bestival, now the Lemmy. Does life get any better than that?

Others are far more excited for the duo’s performace, however.

Law-student Mimi said “I saw Sigma at Bestival this summer, and though the Lemmy doesn’t quite compare I hope they’ll be just as good”
