Rugby Varsity postponed

The much anticipated wait for Varsity just got a little longer

If you’ve paid any attention to the local climate in the last month you will have noticed an awful lot of rain has fallen. Too much, in fact, for the venue for rugby varsity.

The ironically named Sandy Park is struggling to cope with the sheer volume of water that has fallen on the South West in the past month.

With upcoming home fixtures against Bath on Saturday and London Irish on the 1st March, the Exeter Chiefs need to ensure the pitch is in a fit playing state. Regrettably, this has meant the University’s varsity has been postponed.

EURFC are looking to re-arrange for sometime in March

The good news is that those who have already bought a ticket will still be able to use them on the later date. Barney Bracher, EURFC’s PR & Sponsorship secretary, said: “the match will definitely take place and will be as big as ever.”

He also urged people not to be put off buying tickets and to “keep an eye on Facebook and Twitter for further information.”

Last year’s Varsity was a similarly wet affair.
