Recent statistics released by Devon and Cornwall Police show a substantial rise in burglaries of student houses, with SEVEN reported in the last two months.

The most commonly stolen items were money, mobiles, laptops, iPods and iPads.

There were 14 recorded incidents on campus this year, with bikes and laptops among the items nicked.

Home Office stats reveal that people aged between 16 and 24 are the most targeted by burglars, simply because of ignorance to security and expensive belongings being left unattended
