Thumbs up for The Forum at Structural Awards

Love it or hate it, you have to admit The Forum is an impressive-looking building

Built by Buro Happold and opened by the Queen in May 2012, The Forum was recently awarded the Award for Education or Healthcare Structures in the Structural Awards of 2013 where it was praised for being “elegantly executed and sustainable.”

YK Cheng, President for the Institution For Structural Engineers, stated The Forum exhibits the type of intricate building that engineers help to make a reality.

He also said he hopes this building will inspire students to take an interest in engineering, and for the public to appreciate the hard work and dedication that goes in to making a building safe.

Despite not winning a prize in Royal Institute of British Architects’s (RIBA) South West awards earlier this year, The Forum is an impressive building that has quickly become a Hub of student activity on Streatham Campus.
