University of Exeter professors earn their spot in the limelight as they are soon to be featuring on international TV.

Exeter’s climate scientists Professor Tim Lenton and Professor Peter Cox have contributed towards the creation of major new TV series ‘The Tipping Points’.

Based on Professor Lenton’s research paper, the programme identifies dangerous climate ‘tipping points’ which have the potential to alter our climate system resolutely.

Compared to this, Exeter’s weather must seem tropical

Hosted by climate journalist and adventurer Bernice Notenboom, ‘The Tipping Points’ examines exotic, remote locations from the Amazon rainforest to Greenland glaciers and studies weather patterns such as floods, droughts, heat waves, monsoons and hurricanes.

The professors even feature personally in episodes as Lenton appears in Greenland and Cox in Amazonia.

Despite already airing on Dutch TV and the US Weather Channel, the programme will broadcast in the UK in 2014, so you’ll have to contain your excitement till then!
