Ever So Saintly Jude

St. Jude storm smashes Exeter but fails to live up to hype.

St. Jude the tab the tab exeter

Amid the extreme panic and severe weather warnings, people across the South West began to nail their flower pots and sheds to the floor in preparation for the biggest storm ever.

St. Jude was predicted to bring storm force 11 wind speeds, gusting up to 80mph and caused Devon and Cornwall police to set up a ‘command centre’ to deal with the coming catastrophe.

So far, the worst damage appears to be a few trees falling down in Pennsylvania Road, Stoke Valley Road and New North Road, with more reports coming in of a few other roads being blocked.

Some of the fallen trees have hit power lines, leaving 6,000 homes between Plymouth and Barnstable without electricity. However, Western Power are already working to fix the problem.

If you’re looking to travel today, there’s warnings of massive puddles on the road and trains running slower than usual. Other than that, though, harmony has been restored and St. Jude was, well, a bit of a flop.
