One of Exeter’s most eagerly anticipated Hallowe’en events has been cancelled due to concerns over the venue and poor weather conditions.

The ball, which promised “unique events with a focus on the sensory delights of the seasons,” was to be held at a secret venue and tickets were in high demand.

The event organisers posted a statement on Facebook announcing that “over the past 72 hours we have received an appeal against our license by the local authorities raising last minute concerns over the nature of the woodland venue.”

Due to severe weather conditions affecting Exeter this week, heavy rain was predicted for the night of the event. The Harry Potter Society, which had collaborated with The Enchanted Group for the night and sold 1,444 tickets, commented: “Partying in a field just would not be fun in torrential rain and howling winds.”

Ticket holders will receive an automatic refund, or can exchange their tickets for a discounted ticket to Exeter’s summer ball, The Enchanted Garden Ball, before midnight on Thursday 31st October. More information on exchanging tickets can be found by clicking on the image below.
