Fantastic news for families caring for disabled children as vital funding is granted by charity Cerebra.

Based at the University of Exeter Medical School, The Peninsula Cerebra Research Unit (PenCRU) will receive funding to carry their research through to 2019.

The unit provides more than just medical support

PenCRU works with families across Devon and has recently been researching therapies for ADHD, promoting positive attitudes towards disability in schools and improving communication with disabled children in hospitals.

Head of the team at PenCRU, Dr Chris Morris said: “We are looking forward to using the funding to continue to build the partnership we have developed with families and to increase the number of families with whom we work.

“We believe this is crucial to maintaining the relevance and usefulness of what we produce in our research.”

The charity Cerebra aims to enrich the lives of children with brain related conditions and has recognised the importance of PenCRU, providing the unit with funds of £796,303 and encouraging them to continue their vital research.
