Rising 14 places from last year’s position of 182, University of Exeter has been listed by topuniversities.com in their annual rankings as the 168th best university in the world.

Continuing with the university’s recent success, having been named in September 2012 as The Sunday Times‘ University of The Year, University of Exeter was the 26th highest placed UK university.

Once again, Vice-Chancellor Sir Steve Smith will be a happy chappy.

Ranked 3rd, with University of Oxford three places below in 6th, University of Cambridge sustained its position as the country’s best university, whilst Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) took top spot.

University of East London, University of Greenwich and Nottingham Trent University, meanwhile, were three of eight UK-based academic institutions to be placed last in 701st.
