After 18 months’ development and an 8.1 million investment , the brand new Russell Seal fitness centre will finally open for business on 16th September.

Half a million of the budget has been spent on innovative fitness technologies, including a shiny new fitness studio with over 200 pieces of revolutionary “Life Fitness” equipment.

As if that wasn’t enough, all new “Discover” tablets will let users watch videos, listen to music, surf the internet and link up with the Life Fitness app to plan workouts and track their progress.

Even more impressive than that, though, are the Trickster bikes with on-screen avatars, available as part of immersive new video-trials.

A world-class fitness centre comes at a cost, however, and gym membership prices have soared compared to last year. AU societies are being forced to increase their prices by £20 to reflect the new costs – so Gold memberships have gone up to £240 and a Platinum one will set you back £300.

Phil Atwell, Director of Sport, said: “Our aim throughout this project has been to bring a world class training facility to the city of Exeter and I truly believe this is something that we have achieved.”
