Ruff Deal for Topsham Collie

Beloved pub dog placed under house arrest for wandering along the highway

It’s very much a case of who won’t let the dogs out, as Reggie the Collie is restricted to the upstairs of his home at The Lighter Inn.

4-year-old Reggie, resident of the Topsham pub, was cautioned by PCSO Sarah Giles for wandering alone by the Quayside and beyond.

The house arrest of popular Reggie has outraged many Topsham locals.

Before issuing the warning, PCSO Giles tweeted “just met with ECC Dog Warden, I love it when a plan comes together.” Her twitter account was previously a topic of controversy due to content posted about Exeter Uni freshers.

In her statement, Giles revealed “Reggie is a lovely dog” but cautioned that “on a designated highway a dog must be on a lead and under control”.

A very sad tail indeed, Reggie’s owners Guy and Karen Bayliss did not wish to comment.
