A, U: You’re up for an award!

Nominations for the AU Awards are in!

Nominations for the Athletic Union Awards are in and The Tab is proud to see its Biggest Name on Campus among them.

BNOC of the Year champ Kayne Sheppard is up for Sports Personality of the Year, meaning he has a shot at winning the second most prestigious prize of 2012/13.

His nomination says: “Kayne has been an inspiration to all the club by motivating everyone to support all BUCS teams on a Wednesday.

Never failed to turn up on a cold, wet Wednesday afternoon when he is not playing for the club to support other teams down at Ducks Meadow.”

Random… Kayne, centre, with Pritchard from Dirty Sanchez

A delighted Kayne told The Tab: “I am both surprised and heartened to hear of my nomination. The real message to take from this is ‘there’s a little bit of Duckes in all of us.’ Unless you’re big-time and it’s Topsham.”

Tab writer Adam Lax is up for the Bruce Coleman Contribution to Sport award.

His nomination says: “Adam is heavily involved in publicising [men’s hockey] at Exeter and EUMHC keeping students informed by publishing articles for the Exeter Tab as well as the EUMHC website.”

Adam said: “It is an honour to be nominated for such a prestigious award. I am delighted that my commitment to EUMHC, both on the field, and off, ensuring adequate hydration levels for all members of the club over the last three years, has been recognised.”

The Awards Dinner is on Wednesday May 1. In a statement of Facebook, the AU said: “We had a record number of nominations this year which is really great to see! We also had plenty of clubs voting for other Club teams and members which is cracking.”
