Meet the Chief

Exeter appoints Chief Operating officer

Chief Operating officer

Exeter welcomes Dr. Claire Baines in a new role as Chief Operating officer of the University.

This role is new to the University and will put Dr. Baines in charge of a lot of the most important things on campus including HR, IT, the libraries, catering, accommodation, fundraising, and recruiting new students. Basically as chief, she is in charge of everything with the exception of Finance services which will be headed up by Andrew Connolly.

But fear not, us students are in good hands as Dr. Baines has already worked a De Montfort and Sheffield in similar roles so knows her stuff.

She has the Vice-Chancellor’s approval too, who said: “This is a critical appointment as we seek to build on Exeter’s position as a member of the Russell Group and the Sunday Times University of the year. We are very pleased to welcome Claire to Exeter where she will take responsibility for one of the best professional services teams in any University.”
