AU Election Result Facing Delay

Candidates refusing to sign off on election due to outstanding appeals.

Several candidates standing in the Athletic Union elections are refusing to sign off on the results, The Tab has learned, potentially preventing the announcement of the result tonight.

Alex Powell, a member of this year’s AU Committee, is currently subject to an appeal made by two of her rivals, due to her alleged contravention of campaign rules.

Powell, a hot favourite for the presidency, is alleged to have broken a rule regarding the number of campaign t-shirts worn on campus, as well as hanging a banner outside her house and supposedly stamping other campaigns’ posters.

She was also docked 31 votes due to being just 63p over budget.

Brendan Gilson and James Gibson subsequently launched an appeal in order to cause Powell to lose more votes.

The pair are also yet to sign off due to the complicated situation, alongside David Rogal.

The results were due to be revealed this evening at the Lemon Grove.
