Bring on the nightclubs!

Tired of the same old Cheesy Tuesdays, TP Wednesdays and the occasional edgy night at Cellar Door? City planners aim to improve Exeter’s rubbish nightlife.

City leaders have finally caught on to Exeter’s night-life scene needing a huge revamp.

The aim is to make Exeter’s city centre busier. Even though the centre pulled in the pounds this Christmas, the threat of the recession still hovers over the city.

Princesshay and John Lewis have drawn more people into town, but City Leaders believe tempting people to stay into the evenings will bring in the big dollar bills.

They hope to bring Exeter into the top 30 UK retail centres, from its current position of 38th.

Other areas for potential improvement include more cafes, restaurants and leisure facilities.

As previously reported by The Tab the ‘crack-den’ style bus station is due to be developed which would provide better transport links.

Making the streets safer at night is also a top priority, which will be welcome news to students who feel threatened by recent attacks and are nervous about street lights being turned off.
