Sport In January

Jonny Buck looks to the month ahead in uni sport.

Early January is never ideal for sporting conditions; Duckes is under its traditional 3 foot of water, Christmas cardio was never going to happen anyway, and it’s pretty damn chilly out there.

However, don’t despair, as judging by Wednesday’s results;

We came across all northern and won in the cold and rain. Apparently Timepiece wasn’t affected by the cold, and was described as ‘fucking mental mate, I did like 7 doubles mate’ (a brilliant Overheard in the forum)

In even better news, there is an abundance of great sporting action to look forward to this term. First and foremost is the Rugby Union Varsity, one of the biggest events in the university sporting calendar, which takes place in February and brings in nearly 4000 people.

There’s also quite a few teams in contention to winning their BUCS divisions, including Rugby Union 1s,  Men’s Hockey 2s, my team of the term Mens Squash 1s, and the Women’s hockey 3s.

For more teams doing well, check out the form book;

As always, I’ll be running the liveblog Green Machine every Wednesday, so get involved with all your updates and pictures and ill do my best to get them in.
