Snow hope for Westcountry

Freezing weather expected to hit Exeter, just as you want to celebrate the end of exams.

Up to four inches of snow could hit Exeter by Sunday, bringing an icy end to exam week.

Temperatures have been predicted to drop to minus three degrees Celsius over the next few days, with the Met Office issuing a yellow weather warning for ice across the Westcountry.

Although the snow is expected to fall mainly on higher gound, the cold weather is likely to remain next week. There is a chance of more snow on Monday.

A Met Office spokesman said: “Overnight on Saturday and into Sunday it could be minus two to three in some parts. There will be a wintry mix of rain and sleet. People need to be prepared for ice and keep up-to-date with weather forecasts.”
