Floody hell!

It cost millions but the Forum has a leaky roof.

| UPDATED

It cost £48m but someone obviously forgot to make it waterproof.

The Forum flooded last night as heavy rain and high winds lashed Exeter.

Water poured through the ceiling in both the Alumni Auditorium and Level -1 of the Main Library.

Staff battling to save our books

Staff used tarpaulins to cover books as large puddles formed on the Library’s fetching grey carpet.

Parts of the Forum, opened by the Queen last term, could be closed for days.

‘Cleaning’ (flooding) in progress

Windspeeds of up to 52mph and over 10mm of rain caused mayhem across Devon. Trains from Exeter to London were cancelled, as was the High Street’s Christmas light switch-on.
