A campaign has started to re-open the recently closed café in the Queen’s Building.

An empty-ish Queen’s Café

Postgraduate English student Charlotte Markey is leading talks with the Innovation Centre in an attempt to restore the once-popular coffee shop.

In an email to students, Markey said: “The loss of a functioning coffee and food outlet in the building seems uneccessary when one considers the number of staff and students who are based in and around Queen’s.

“Social space is an important part of University life and I feel that if there is a company such as the Innovation Centre who are willing to make a go of it, then they deserve support from departments based in the building.”

The café closed last year ahead of the Forum opening. Markey’s efforts come after the success of a similar project by the Innovation Centre to revive the café space on Amory’s fourth floor.
