Let there be light!

With the council proposing to turn our streetlights off it seems somewhat ironic that Exeter is launching their Christmas lights on Thursday, 22 November – but you know, yay! Christmas!

christmas Christmas Lights

The Christmas sparkle will be illuminating the Town Centre after being turned on by Exeter’s finest Celebrity chef Michael Caines and two ladies from The Military Wives Choir at 6:30pm on Thursday 22nd November.

After a lack of funding, local newspaper The Express and Echo, accompanied by SunGift Solar (who will be putting them up voluntarily) have saved our lovely lights… Who says Christmas spirit is dead?

Guest presented by television and radio presenter Toby Anstis, the evening kicks off at 4.30pm with performances including:

  • The Voice’s Adam Isaac
  • The Military Wives Choir
  • Local school children
  • Snippets from local Pantomimes (Oh no it isn’t….Oh yes it is!….Sorry)
  • Exeter University talent, supplied by our Jazz Orchestra and Soul Inspirational Choir.

Centre Director of Princesshay, Wayne Pearce is “really excited about the line up of talented local performers we have involved this year. There will be some new lighting features to enjoy also and I am sure it will be a wonderful evening.”

Oh, and just incase you were wondering Santa Claus WILL be coming to town… As if you weren’t sold already…
