Inside #ex4boysnextdoor

A new online phenomenon prepares to cleansweep Exeter’s IPs.

| UPDATED

Two Exeter English students have developed a unique way to respond to their upcoming assignment.

Third years Kate Hird and Alex Calver are enrolled in the new ‘Digital and Cyberculture Studies’ module, and have to complete a ‘digital building project’, using blogs, web shorts or other cyber-based media.

The pair have devised a concept called ‘ex4boysnextdoor’, wherein a 24 hour live video feed will relay the occurrences in an all-male Exeter student house to their website.

The seven main ‘characters’ will also have Twitter accounts where their narrative arcs can be followed by anyone and everyone.

Hird described the project as an opportunity to “catch every moment and every shenanigan” in an archetypal student house. However, she also warns about the “possibility of full frontal naked men”.

ex4boysnextdoor goes live tomorrow at 9am. Visit their website for more information, or check out #ex4boysnextdoor on Twitter.
