The Kooples of Exeter

The Drop takes inspiration from French brand The Kooples, and bring you Exeter’s very Kooples.

Walking around campus, it is easy to spot the loved up couples heading to their lectures hand in hand.

The Kooples, French slang for couples, have incorporated this idea into their advertising campaign. The real life couples fronting the campaign aren’t models, they are real people living their lives but just happen to be ridiculously stylish. Achingly cool, these couples pose in perfectly coordinated outfits, their photos covering London’s buses and cabs.

The Kooples hit London by storm in 2010, opening one shop after another continuing to grow in popularity; you know you’ve hit the big time when you star in the Ab Fab Christmas special! Their chic Parisian tailoring has a cool British edge to it, and their smart blazers, skull emblazoned t-shirts and fur trimmed puffa jackets can be combined to create the perfect outfit.

Inspiration for the brand came from the idea of couples borrowing each other’s clothes, whether it be shirts, blazers or in the case of Exeter students, tracksuit bottoms! Head to their website and you can watch interviews with them, about how they met, their lives and their fashion taste. Inspired by their adverts we have been out and about looking for Exeter’s very own ‘Kooples’ with a unique his-and-hers style.
