Style Icon: Alexa Chung

Alexa Chung came to our screens all those years ago as a presenter of T4’s Popworld. Since then she has made a name for herself world wide for her quirky and individual style, copied by thousands of wannabe fashionistas and described by Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour as a “phenomenon”. In the whirl wind world of fashion there’s a new must have trend everyday, but Alexa’s style seems to instil a sense of calm. Her unique sense of style is timeless, and although always managing to incorporate some of the newest pieces into her looks, she does not appear to religiously follow what is “in-vogue”.

She has a fear of the sexy and would never be caught flashing her cleavage, instead opting for a younger more innocent look, often caught in classic school girl outfits! She works the high neck line like nobody else can and flaunts her long slender legs in shorts or little dresses.
Although no one can wear it like Alexa, her style can be easily imitated. For a laid back look, pair high waisted denim Levi 501 cut offs (Urban Outfitters, £32), with a peter pan collar blouse (Topshop, £30), and finish with a simple black blazer and thick opaque black tights.

For an easy evening look, wear an American Apparel long sleeved black dress over a silky white collared shirt. Finish with ankle boots or pumps and a satchel (Cambridge satchel company have a great range of colours).
 

Other key pieces in creating an “Alexa” look are a good quality striped long sleeved t shirt (Petit Bateau), over the knee socks and a good chunky knit.
