BREAKING: Edinburgh Uni cancels all in person graduation ceremonies this year

This affects both summer and winter graduations in 2021

Edinburgh Uni have confirmed that all person graduation ceremonies this year will be cancelled due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

In a confirmed Learn notification this morning, the message read, “Due to the ongoing coronavirus restrictions around holding large scale events, the University has taken the difficult decision to cancel all in-person graduation ceremonies in 2021.

“This will impact our summer and winter graduations this year.”

“The University will be contacting affected students next week with information, along with plans for alternative virtual celebrations that are in development. Further details will be circulated as soon as possible.”

This comes following an email to students last week that Edinburgh Uni have confirmed that teaching will be online until the end of semester.

In an email from VP Colm, he confirms the University, “we have made the difficult decision that teaching and assessment for Undergraduate students will remain digital for the rest of the Semester, with a small number of exceptions.”
