Edinburgh tuition fees to remain the same despite decrease in face-to-face teaching

Anna MeehanEdinburgh University will not reduce tuition fees for the upcoming academic year despite the decrease in face-to-face teaching.
This news comes a week after University Vice-Principal Colm Harmon’s announcement that campus will be open in September, offering a “hybrid” teaching approach that combines online and in-person teaching.
A university spokesperson told The Tab: “What we teach our students, and the learning outcomes with which they will graduate, will be unaffected and fee arrangements remain unaltered.”
The University claims that they will be offering the same standard of education, and tuition fees do not warrant an adjustment.
The spokesperson added: “The University has been a pioneer in providing online education for decades.
This expertise will enable us to offer an excellent standard of education, whether our students join us on campus or at distance.”
The University reassured: “We are looking forward to welcoming our students in September, delivering an outstanding education to them, wherever they are in the world.”
In an email to students, Harmon stressed: “We don’t have all the answers for you yet, and … the Covid-19 pandemic brings some uncertainties about the precise circumstances we will face in the coming months.”
