The Edi students who are both part of the Scottish Futures U20 programme squad are understandably ecstatic to be called up to the Scotland Women squad.

Sarah started playing rugby at the age of five and is now a 1st year studying Sport and Recreation Management.

She told The Edinburgh Tab: "I’m really excited to be part of the wider squad going into the next two weekends and after experiencing the tour in South Africa I feel that if I were to be picked for either game I am as ready as I can be."

The two have already played and trained together at a uni level and were part of the EULRFC team that thrashed St Andrews 52 – 0 at Varsity in September.

The Edinburgh students are looking forward to playing together on the international stage. Sarah said: "The opportunity is really exciting and to have Evie Gallagher alongside me has really boosted my confidence.

"Myself and Evie have played together a lot and link really well off each other so I’m buzzing to continue to train and play with her at a higher level and I’m really happy that she’s got the opportunity she deserves.

"I think the teams really gelling and I’m excited to see how it pays off in these autumn tests."

They will be joining teammate and fellow student Panashe Muzambe on the team, who began her Masters degree in Education in September 2019 also at the University of Edinburgh.

Best of luck to all three of them and here's to hoping they do Edi proud!
