Meet the models of the Edinburgh Charity Fashion Show 2019

If you thought the February heatwave was hot, read on

This year's Edinburgh Charity Fashion Show on the 8th March at the Mansfield Traquair is fast-approaching, with excitement for the highly-anticipated event growing by the day.

The show will be centred around the themes of dreams and imagination, and is sponsored by Penumbra, one of Scotland's largest mental health charities. As well as raising money for a fantastic cause, and being the perfect opportunity for the incredible designers to show off their best and most innovative pieces, the ECFS 2019 serves to promote the message that light will always return following a period of darkness.

In order to brighten your day and keep you entertained until Friday's show, why not have a scroll and meet the models who are sure to be spending their final week as an ECFS model perfecting their catwalk smoozes in the mirror?

I hold them all in equal disdain because I'm not cool enough to club.

Ta reine by Angèle remix because French and fashion go together like wine and a good time.

Esme Allman, Fourth Year, History

Can you sum up your style in three words?

My style is grandma chic with a colourful edge.

What is embarrassing thing that has happened to you in Edinburgh?

Arriving late to present a motion to Student Council with a pint of cider (I was late because I was ordering said cider).

What is your favourite Edinburgh club night?

This is so disappointing but I haven't been out in ages. The ECFS after parties are always a memorable one though.

Meet the Men

Alex Barnes, Second Year, Philosophy and Theology

Image may contain: Finger, Hair, Human, Person, Face

What has been the best part of your ECFS experience so far?

The "something borrowed" editorial shoot was insane. Felt really in touch with my inner scotsman wearing a kilt.

What would you say is the worst current fashion trend?

Frankly…AirPods.

What would be your dream catwalk song?

"Sexy boy" by Air, for the irony !

Abdul Ehtaiba, Fourth Year, Chemical Engineering

Can you sum up your style in three words?

My Ye different.

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you in Edinburgh?

Last year I left my phone in a lecture theatre and went back to get it but there was another lecture going on. I tried to sneak in and look for it quietly but the lecturer decided to stop the whole lecture and ask me to explain to everyone what I was doing. Embarrassing, but at least he asked everyone to look for it. I got it back and made a speedy exit lol.

What is your favourite club night?

Got to be Rascals.

Max Girkins, Fourth Year, Computer Science

Image may contain: Human, Face, Person

What is your staple item of clothing for uni?

My beaten up Adidas Americanas. I wear them all the time with anything, so much so that I'm now the annoying person who walks around the library with squeaking shoes.

Who is your favourite designer?

I met Hedi Slimane once, back when he was in charge of Saint Laurent. He was pretty nice and I liked the clothes so I guess him, or vintage Burberry stuff? (Not very up to date on the fashion world these days.)

Where would you say is the best place to eat in Edinburgh?

Union of Genius vegan chilli is a winner for a library lunch break, and Rollo for a sit down meal if I'm not buying.

Anthony Inang, Second Year Masters, Architect

Image may contain: Finger, Human, Person, Face

Who is your style icon?

I don't really have one. My fashion sense is self-inspired.

What is your favourite thing about being a student at Edinburgh?

The ease of getting around. Edinburgh is a rather small city.

What is a fun fact about you?

I'm a really good dancer.
