New 24/7 McDonald’s to open on Nicolson Street in September

Yaaaaaaaaas

Edinburgh's post night out cuisine scene has been given its best piece of news in years, as McDonald's have today announced plans to open a 24/7 store on Nicolson Street from September 2018.

The new McDonald's is set to operate from the building currently occupied by Lidl. The Lidl is set to close down at the end of July.

The McDonald's regional manager for central Scotland, Andy Hamilton, told The Tab: "We recognise the opportunity that Edinburgh's large student population presents to us.

"We have noticed a dearth of fast food options in the centre of the Scottish capital, so we hope that our new store will prove to be popular from the outset."

If the news of a McDonald's opening right by campus wasn't enough, the new store has also managed to secure a 24 hours a day license from the council.

The days of Scotmid oven pizzas look set to be over. Hallelujah.

Before you get too excited check the date…Happy April Fool's.
