A 22-year-old Deliveroo cyclist was seriously assaulted in the Meadows

He was cycling down Middle Meadows Walk

Last Friday, a 22-year-old man was attacked by two teenage boys at around 21:30 as he was cycling along Middle Meadow Walk.

The two youths pushed the cyclist from his bike, pulled the takeaway delivery bag off of his back, and assaulted him. The attack resulted in head injuries which required the young victim to be taken to the hospital for treatment.

Both of the suspects are white teenage boys around the ages of 14 and 15. The first had a slim build and wore a scarf over his mouth as well as a green jacket with the hood up.

The second attacker had a medium build with short, dark-coloured hair. He wore a black jacket.

The Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them. Detective Inspector Kevin Harkins said in a statement: "This was an unprovoked and senseless attacked which has left the victim understandably very shaken.

"The victim was approached by a group of youths and the area was busy with pedestrians and passing traffic. I would ask anyone who witnessed what happened to contact us as soon as possible.

"Similarly, anyone who can help us identify those responsible, or has any other information relevant to our investigation, is ask to come forward and contact officers."

The police can either be contacted on 101, or information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
